::Introduction:: For the last few years Duliajan College has been conducting courses like Functional English successfully with the help of sophisticated and modern audio-visuals and infrastructural facilities. In its bid to farther utilize this infrastructure for the benefit of the students , the college has introduced Certificate Course in Spoken English from the Session 2004-05. The importance of learning to speak English has been unanimously recognised all over the world . To learn to speak English has become a practical necessity & this can no way be undermined . The fluency in speaking the language can surely be a matter of pride & respectability for anyone. But most people with a fair command over writing , fail miserably to speak the language . Keeping in view this matter , Duliajan College has decided to introduce a course in Spoken English for the benefit of the students. The course has been framed to meet both the writing & communicative problems of the students. it will be a dynamic one with all the audio-visual aids. We hope it will serve its purpose.

	AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
	* The Faculty has been instrumental building strong fundamentals extensive and systematic training inside the classroom and laboratory . * To improve communicative skill of the students in English . * To form better & smart personality. * To boost the confidence of the students so that they can be comfortable in different social & educational occasions. * To remove the shyness or fear in interacting in English inside or outside the institution. * To prepare the students for their future life. A fair command of the language could be a gateway for myriad of jobs & other income avenues. * to broaden the mental horizon of the students by exposing them to a foreign language & culture
	SYLLABUS:
	* How to speak English. * General vocabulary mostly used in daily conversation . * Sentences & its kind. * Tense (Present, Past, Future) & their uses. * Some common errors in English in the use of Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, Article, Preposition etc. * Use of Short conversational & other sentences of daily use. * General Sentences on meeting. * Some common translations from Assamese to English . * Synonyms. * Commonly used phrases & idioms in conversation. * Situational conversation in English ( at the Book Stall, Restaurant, Library etc). * Group discussion. * Debating . * Phonetics ( Word Pronunciation, Sentence Reading, Stress Intonation) * Smart Talking.
	ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
	Application for admission into the Spoken English Course should be made in the prescribed application form obtainable from the College Office on payment of Rs. 10/- Selection of candidates for admission is made by a selection committee constituted by the Principal . Admission to the course takes place on the day of the interview and the candidate have to make necessary payment on the same day .
	DETAILS OF COURSE MODULE
	Name of the Course : Certificate Course in Spoken English . Duration : 12 months Issue of Admission Form: At the time of issuing of Admission form of college regular course. Date of Admission : Same as College regular admission . Commencement of Class : From 1st July, 2004.
	EXAMINATION & CERTIFICATE
	After completion of the Course students will have to appear in an examination which will be conducted by college Authority. Successful students will be given Certificates by the College.
	GENERAL RULES
	* All fees & dues are to be paid at the time of admission . * The Course is compulsory for the students of Arts Stream from H.S. 1st Year to T.D.C . 3rd year student. it is optional for the students of Science and Commerce Streams. * The students must abide by the rules & regulations of the institution. * The students must abide by changes as per convenience. * Fee once paid is not refundable. * Principal's decisions shall be final and binding in all matters
	DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
	Attested copies of Certificates and Mark sheets of Educational Qualification . Attested Copies of relevant documents of other qualification.
	FEES TO BE PAID
	Head Amount Admission Fee Rs .50.00 Tution Fee Rs. 40.00 (per month) x 12 Rs. 480.00 Exam Fee Rs. 50.00 Total Rs. 580.00
